Head of the Class videos

The Student Services Branch provides countywide education programs for students with disabilities, students who are under court supervision and students who are not attending regular schools. The Branch also operates preschool and child development programs; provides environmental education; helps districts run their special education programs; provides supplemental services to eligible foster and homeless children; and provides education for children of migrant families.

Services


  • Alternative Education Department

    The Alternative Education Department provides educational programs for students under court supervision, and who are expelled or who are deficient in credits and have experienced challenges in matriculation in the traditional school settings.
  • Early Learning Services

    The Early Learning Services Department provides a variety of services for early childhood education including Head Start - Early Head Start, Inclusion Collaborative/CPIN, and State Preschool.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION (Walden West)

    Walden West is a residential outdoor science school for fifth-and-sixth-graders. Lessons in science, ecology, and the environment are brought to life as students learn in the outdoor setting.
  • Foster Youth & Homeless Education

    The SCCOE Foster Youth and Homeless Education Services Department provides supplementary services to eligible children and youth either in the foster care system or in homeless situations.
  • MIGRANT EDUCATION

    The SCCOE Migrant Education program is designed to provide supplementary services to eligible migrant students.
  • SELPA I, II, III, IV, VII

    The Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) coordinates with school districts and the SCCOE to provide a continuum of programs and services for students with special needs.
  • SPECIAL EDUCATION

    The Special Education Department provides a variety of instructional programs and services for infants, children and youth with special needs. For Special Education SARC, follow this link.
