District Assistance & Intervention Team (DAIT)

The Santa Clara County DAIT works collaboratively with districts in Corrective Action to complete a comprehensive needs assessment, revise the LEAP based on a set of recommendations, and implement and monitor the key actions.

Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) as a District Assistance and Intervention Team (DAIT) Provider

The driving principle behind the SCCOE DAIT work is that building knowledge and skills and thus the capacity of the leaders in a district to make systems change is the most effective way to improve student outcomes over time. To that end, the SCCOE DAIT works collaboratively with districts in Corrective Action to complete a comprehensive needs assessment, revise the LEA Plan based on a set of recommendations, and implement and monitor the key actions. The goals of this work are to:

  • Improve teaching and learning
  • Increase effective leadership
  • Promote professional culture and collaborative relationships
  • Provide structures for system-wide improvement
  • Establish aligned, job-embedded professional development
  • Align resources – time, money, people – to ensure sustainability of the districtwide improvement effort

Who facilitates the work:

The members of the SCCOE DAIT bring a variety of educational expertise and experience to support districtwide, systems change. From Assistant Superintendents to classroom teachers, the DAIT members have worked with urban and rural districts, small to very large districts, and high performing to low performing districts. They have direct experience working with district and site leadership to create lasting change that improves educational outcomes for all students. Six SCCOE DAIT members have qualified through the CDE to be DAIT Leads.
